Bernie, Ken and I have already had a couple of meetings already to start to develop the frame work for the day.

If you have ever organised an event or conference, no matter if the event is free (as with PodCamp Ireland 2008) or for a fee, you will know that lots of planning has to be done so that the conference runs smoothly for participants and speakers.

Some of the things we have been discussing are:

• Reviewing potential locations in Kilkenny
• Discussing how we can enhance the online registration process for attendees
• Setting up an account to manage the sponorship monies and the payments we will need to make for the venue etc
• Checking that no other major events (sporting or social media related!) will be taking place on the 27 September 2008 that clash with the date for PodCamp Ireland 2008
• Updating our online marketing materials such as the badges we can all use (from attendees to sponsors and speakers) on our websites and business blogs to promote the event
• Discussing and planning how we can create added value here at the PodCamp Ireland 2008 blog for people who are interested in social media in Ireland - from articles, to resources and podcasts
• Considering actions to make PodCamp Ireland 2008 carbon neutral
• Discussing who may be interested in sponsoring PodCamp Ireland 2008 and who we can therefore approach
• Exploring how we can ensure that we provide wifi that works for the conference attendees.

 We’ve put dates in the diary to meet each week but of course would welcome your feedback too. If you have suggestions about how we can make sure that PodCamp Ireland 2008 is THE social media event of the year here in Ireland, do post your comments here.

We had tremendous feedback from last years conference and attendees ranged from teens to granny’s and we are looking forward to making 2008 another conference to be remembered.

We’ll let you know when the new registration process has been put in place. But in the mean time, let’s have your thoughts and input and do mark the date in your calendar. I’ve already had people from outside of Ireland contact me planning their business trips and vacations around the date of PodCamp Ireland 2008!
