Arriving by train or bus to MacDonagh Junction and fancy a walk? Estimated walk time from Google Maps is 19 minutes from MacDonagh Junction train station / shopping centre to the College Road. Estimated drive time is 3 minutes (obviously with no cars on the road). With traffic in the morning I would expect a spin from the train station to take no more than ten minutes.

If you’re coming in from Dublin, then you’ll want to check this map here. Once you hit the main Dublin Road roundabout (you’ll pass the industrial estate, Duggan Steel, Maxol Station all on left side), turn left onto the ringroad, cross the bridge and keep going straight until the last roundabout (total trip <5 minutes). At the last roundabout (Callan Road roundabout), turn right, pass the Esso Station and Hotel Kilkenny will be on your right hand side.

• Dublin Road (Point A) to Hotel Kilkenny (Point B)

If you’re coming from Waterford or Cork via Waterford then see the below map. Coming in the Waterford Road you’ll pass through Foulkstown with the cemetery and Kilkenny Rugby Club on left, onwards towards the car dealers on the right, through the small roundabout and passing Springhill Court Hotel also on your right. At the Waterford Road roundabout, turn left, go straight through the next roundabout (Kells Road) and on to the Callan Road roundabout. As above, turn right, pass the Esso station and Hotel Kilkenny is on your right.

• Springmount / Waterford Road (Point A) to Hotel Kilkenny (Point B)

For those of you coming from the Cork / Tipp direction (possibly from Cork via Clonmel on to Callan, then Kilkenny) you’ll find yourself on the Callan Road. Gone is the sight of Mary’s Cathedral as you come over the hill, now you’ve got hundreds of new houses on your left hand side and the Kilkenny VEC / SOS on your right hand side. As you approach the Callan Road roundabout, you can go straight through, pass the Esso station on your right hand side and Hotel Kilkenny will be on your right (hook the right at the roundabout outside Hotel Kilkenny to get into the hotel carpark).

• Callan Road (Point A) to Hotel Kilkenny (Point B)

If you’re still interested in car pooling and you’re heading to Kilkenny this weekend by car / van then leave a comment here for people to contact you. You may say where you’re leaving from, driving through (e.g. Dublin to Kilkenny via Portlaoise) and how many spaces you might have to offer or how many spaces you would like to take up.

PodCamp Ireland talks will be scheduled between 10 am and we will aim to finish at 5-5.30pm so make sure that you let us know if there is a preferred time for you if you plan to host a session.

We won’t be scheduling the sessions until the day as is typical with an unconference, but if you have planned to speak and know you will be available only limited times between 10am and 5pm please email us so we can plan around your calendar.

Have you ever wondered how to make sure that you provide the opportunity for people to share the great articles on your blog to their social networking sites?

You might recall I wrote about one tool recently that you can add to the side bar of your blog or to your web pages that allows people to save PDF’s of your articles and even email them to others.

Another plugin that you might want to consider for your blog or website that is becoming increasingly popular is ShareThis.

You’ll usually see the ShareThis logo at the bottom of an article.

When you click on it you will see you have several options:

1. You can post the article and share it to your favourite social networking sites such as Digg and Ma.gnolia
2. You can make sure that your friends at your social networks such as Facebook and Twitter know about the post or article you have read
3. And you can even email yourself or others a copy - yes I know you may think it impossible, but there are many people who are not connected on social networks (at a meeting I was at this week less than 5% of the business leaders attending were members of a social network).

Now I have to admit I don’t have ShareThis on my blog at the moment - it’s in my list of updates I want to make. Though at the moment, as many visitors to my blog are not tech savvy and social media evangelists, I’ve been hesitant as they may not know what it means.

I do however have specific plugin’s for people to share my articles by email, by Twitter and printing them out and I do have social bookmark sharing.

Of course it’s not just making sure the readers of your blog understand what the ShareThis logo means - it does rely on us as content creators writing content that people want to pass on to their friends or keep as reference material.

So why not consider adding ShareThis to your blog or website. And of course I hope you will consider sharing our articles with your friends too - and hopefully they too will want to join us this year at PodCamp Ireland.

Oh and I almost forgot to mention ShareThis is available to use across a host of blog platforms including WordPress.org and TypePad.com
