One of the things I know I have been forgeting in the last couple of weeks is using our hash tag for PodCamp Ireland that Bernie set up.

Hashtags are like tags on Flickr, only added to your post and can help track conversations online about Hashtags were developed as a means to create “groupings” on Twitter.

The hash tag for Podcamp Ireland is #pci and you can see the summary here.

If you plan to use hashtags in your Tweets, make sure that you follow @hashtags on Twitter so that it will index your updates.

That will make it easy for people if they Twitter during the event with their thoughts and feedback about the speakers presentations to access a summary. I’ve found this really helpful when there have been events I have not been able to attend but others have live Tweeted their insights from a conference.

And why not set up a hash tag for an event you are organising or taking part in?

PodCamp Ireland talks will be scheduled between 10 am and we will aim to finish at 5-5.30pm so make sure that you let us know if there is a preferred time for you if you plan to host a session.

We won’t be scheduling the sessions until the day as is typical with an unconference, but if you have planned to speak and know you will be available only limited times between 10am and 5pm please email us so we can plan around your calendar.

This conference is OUR conference and when I say OUR I mean all of us here in Ireland and beyond who are interested in connecting with other social media enthusiasts.

Mitch Joel of the Six Pixels of Separation podcast I thought would come up with an interesting place for his most unusual place to podcast from.

I remember listening to one show where he recorded it on a plane coming back from a conference. Not something I think the RyanAir crew would welcome here in Ireland me thinks!

I did wonder how he managed to get such a good recording.

Here is Mitch’s comments on his most unusual place to podcast from:

The Andaman Sea - right off the beach in Thailand was probably the most unusual. I just recorded it live as I strolled along the beach in the sunset.

That being said, I like finding unusual places to record. I’ve Podcast from the country when I was away on a fishing trip. I’ve recorded a show in a plane on a flight from Los Angeles to New York and more.

I think that’s the fun of it all - finding new places to record and share.

Far more exotic than the locations I shared in my original article Mitch! Though I could imagine myself there now…….

I’m wondering if the people travelling to PodCamp Ireland 2008 from overseas will decide to podcast their thoughts after this years event on the planes taking them home?

Like the time I was late back for my Biz Growth Live BlogTalk Radio travelling back from Sligo and had to pull into a forecourt of a McDonald’s restaurant to for the live call with my guest.

Or the time that I arranged to get a hire car back to Heathrow Airport  before returning to Dublin and had to pull into one of the side roads to record a show hoping that the air traffic would not be too bad.

I’ll be posting the show notes for today’s PodCamp Ireland Podcast later today, but when you listen to it and wonder where the wind noise is coming from, here is a clue.

Bernie was out and about doing the show recording. Ten month old Mia was very quiet when we recorded the show and you can imagine why - she was with her Daddy who was taking her out for a stroll.

I wonder what the most unusual places that expert podcasters Leesa Barnes, Paul Colligan, Mitch Joel, Donna Papacosta and  Jason Van Orden have podcast from?
