All you need to is create a free account and set up your profile in Pix.ie.

Or perhaps your podcast is now showing up in iTunes and you are noticing ever increasing numbers of podcast episodes being downloaded.

But have you remembered to make sure that your blog, Twitter account and podcasts are being listed in some of the key Irish directories?

While we’ve been blogging here at PodCamp Ireland for a year or so, I realised this week that we had not registered our blog in the Irish blog directories - sites that have a good ranking and where potential readers might go to browse to find out who’s blogging about what here in Ireland.

So here are 4 actions I took this week:

• I registered PodCamp Ireland’s blog at irishblogs.ie
• I submitted PodCamp Ireland’s blog feed to irishblogs.com
• I submitted our Twitter ID to twit.ie which is an aggregator for Irish Twitter and Jaiku users
• I submitted our podcast fee to PodcastingIreland.ie

(At the time of writing this, we are not yet showing up in the PodcastingIreland.ie directory or in Twit.ie - irishblogs.ie and irishblogs.com were super efficient at listing us)

Remember that blogging, Twittering and podcasting are all ways to create a community around your business and your brand, but it’s also important to become part of the community of people engaging in social media here in Ireland - if for no other reason that there are people who are taking the same journey and they are incredibly supportive.

Yes social media is great to build connections and relationships with people across the world as I reflected on with a new social network I joined last week which inspired my thought for the day yesterday - that we need never be lonely again if we are connected through social networking.

But there are are also some terrific people online in social media - and they may even be in your own home town.

So go on, get listed in the Irish blogging and podcasting directories today.

And if you have suggestions for other directories you think we should get listed in, do let me know.

We now have a Twitter ID - yes we were already on Jaiku, but given that so many more people are on Twitter than Jaiku probably due to the vast array of applications available to support Twitter, then we thought we should also set up PodCamp Ireland Channel on Twitter. I’ve been using video’s on one of my websites as a lead generator for three years and in some of the paid mastermind programmes I have used them to provide resources to delegates.
If you are camera shy, you don’t have to have to create video with you as a talking head - you can be inventive with the backdrop you choose, record your voice alongside a screen capture or create a PowerPoint slide presentation and do an accompanying voiceover.

If you are not sure where to start, my friend, author and podcaster Leesa Barnes has a three minute video on what to look for when choosing video capturing software. And while you on that page you can find other video’s she has done on her blog. Access the video HERE.

Have you ever wondered how to make sure that you provide the opportunity for people to share the great articles on your blog to their social networking sites?

You might recall I wrote about one tool recently that you can add to the side bar of your blog or to your web pages that allows people to save PDF’s of your articles and even email them to others.

Another plugin that you might want to consider for your blog or website that is becoming increasingly popular is ShareThis.

You’ll usually see the ShareThis logo at the bottom of an article.

When you click on it you will see you have several options:

1. You can post the article and share it to your favourite social networking sites such as Digg and Ma.gnolia
2. You can make sure that your friends at your social networks such as Facebook and Twitter know about the post or article you have read
3. And you can even email yourself or others a copy - yes I know you may think it impossible, but there are many people who are not connected on social networks (at a meeting I was at this week less than 5% of the business leaders attending were members of a social network).

Now I have to admit I don’t have ShareThis on my blog at the moment - it’s in my list of updates I want to make. Though at the moment, as many visitors to my blog are not tech savvy and social media evangelists, I’ve been hesitant as they may not know what it means.

I do however have specific plugin’s for people to share my articles by email, by Twitter and printing them out and I do have social bookmark sharing.

Of course it’s not just making sure the readers of your blog understand what the ShareThis logo means - it does rely on us as content creators writing content that people want to pass on to their friends or keep as reference material.

So why not consider adding ShareThis to your blog or website. And of course I hope you will consider sharing our articles with your friends too - and hopefully they too will want to join us this year at PodCamp Ireland.

Oh and I almost forgot to mention ShareThis is available to use across a host of blog platforms including WordPress.org and TypePad.com

You will also find we have a channel on Jaiku, another microblog platform and you can join us in conversation there.

I’ve seen a steady increase of entrepreneurs, media companies and corporates start to join the Twitter community over the recent months.

For those of you interested in what the Irish Twitter community is Tweeting about you can follow the Irish Twitterati here.

Twitter has become a place to research, build friendships and even promote your business. But I don’t recommend jumping in to the Twitterverse without doing a little research first.

Yes you can microblog and each microblog post is only 140 characters maximum. But remember that each Tweet that you make is indexed in Google and will come up in Google searches and Google Alerts- so be careful what you Tweet.

As part of your research, why not take a look at this article from InsideCRM called the ‘Twitter Hall of Shame‘ which shares 50 notable Tweets covering information from business to political Tweets, and from marriage proposals to wine tasting parties on Twitter.

I’d certainly recommend reading some of the case studies so you avoid being cited in future ‘Twitter Hall of Shame’ - unless your objective IS to be listed there!

Well why not become a participant instead?

In case you missed it, last week saw the media launch of the forthcoming “The Apprentice Ireland” and the host will be Bill Cullen - a savvy sales person if ever I met one and as George Hook was recounting in a story on his show last week.

The closing date for online applications is Tuesday June 24th, 2008 with filming taking place this summer.

And if you would rather be Alan Sugar’s Apprentice, you can apply online - closing date is the 7 July 2008.

Or if TV is not for you, you can download the Apprentice Facebook application and create your own board.

Across traditional media or social media, The Apprentice certainly continues to capture share of mind with budding entrepreneurs.
