So perhaps you have been blogging for a little while. You are delighted with the progress you are making; you are getting more confident in writing your articles and you’ve even got a few comments being posted by your readers.

Or perhaps your podcast is now showing up in iTunes and you are noticing ever increasing numbers of podcast episodes being downloaded.

But have you remembered to make sure that your blog, Twitter account and podcasts are being listed in some of the key Irish directories?

While we’ve been blogging here at PodCamp Ireland for a year or so, I realised this week that we had not registered our blog in the Irish blog directories - sites that have a good ranking and where potential readers might go to browse to find out who’s blogging about what here in Ireland.

So here are 4 actions I took this week:

I registered PodCamp Ireland’s blog at irishblogs.ie

I submitted PodCamp Ireland’s blog feed to irishblogs.com

I submitted our Twitter ID to twit.ie which is an aggregator for Irish Twitter and Jaiku users

I submitted our podcast fee to PodcastingIreland.ie

(At the time of writing this, we are not yet showing up in the PodcastingIreland.ie directory or in Twit.ie - irishblogs.ie and irishblogs.com were super efficient at listing us)

Remember that blogging, Twittering and podcasting are all ways to create a community around your business and your brand, but it’s also important to become part of the community of people engaging in social media here in Ireland - if for no other reason that there are people who are taking the same journey and they are incredibly supportive.

Yes social media is great to build connections and relationships with people across the world as I reflected on with a new social network I joined last week which inspired my thought for the day yesterday - that we need never be lonely again if we are connected through social networking.

But there are are also some terrific people online in social media - and they may even be in your own home town.

So go on, get listed in the Irish blogging and podcasting directories today.

And if you have suggestions for other directories you think we should get listed in, do let me know.

Did you notice some changes we made here this week?

We now have a Twitter ID - yes we were already on Jaiku, but given that so many more people are on Twitter than Jaiku probably due to the vast array of applications available to support Twitter, then we thought we should also set up PodCamp Ireland Channel on Twitter. You can follow us at Twitter.com/podcampireland.

Bernie, Ken and I will continue to mention PodCamp Ireland in our own Tweets, but we hope this will help you find all the information quickly an easily if you are on Twitter about our latest blog posts, podcasts and updates about PodCamp Ireland - which incidentally is taking place NEXT MONTH!

Oh and if you know anyone who might be interested in sponsoring us, and they will get featured on the blog and in the podcast, perhaps you could point them in our direction? We need our sponsors so that we can bring the conference to you at no cost. We really appreciate your help!

Have you left a comments here at PodCamp Ireland and noticed a little change we have made?
You see we thought ‘what the world needs now’ as the song goes is a little CommentLuv.
I was writing a comment over at Mari Smith’s blog and I noticed something different when I came to submit the comment.
You [...]

Have you left a comments here at PodCamp Ireland and noticed a little change we have made?

You see we thought ‘what the world needs now’ as the song goes is a little CommentLuv.

I was writing a comment over at Mari Smith’s blog and I noticed something different when I came to submit the comment.

You see Mari gave me the option of adding a link to my last blog post. See what it looks like here - I’ve highlighted the link to my blog post.

And I noticed that this was enabled by CommentLuv. What a great idea I thought and so ‘on-brand’ for Mari who is known for her generosity of spirit.

So I duly asked Mr McGuire to help me out and he installed the plugin - as I said on the PodCamp Ireland show yesterday, Ken’s THE man - who makes all this tech stuff work for us.

When you leave a comment here at the PodCamp Ireland blog (hint hint), you will see the following:

So all you need do is tick to enable CommentLuv which will enable a link to your most recent blog post.

And don’t worry if you don’t have a blog - just make sure that our readers know who you are by adding a link to your URL for your public profile on Facebook or LinkedIn for example when adding your name and email address.

You’d be surprised how many people will check out your profile or blog when they read the comments on blogs - so you see we are hoping that you’ll get a little more traffic all by posting your comments here at PodCamp Ireland.

Find out more about CommentLuv HERE and spread a little love across your blogging social network.

One of the ways that Bernie, Ken and I keep in contact between meetings when planning for the forthcoming PodCamp Ireland 2008 is through Twitter.

You will also find we have a channel on Jaiku, another microblog platform and you can join us in conversation there.

I’ve seen a steady increase of entrepreneurs, media companies and corporates start to join the Twitter community over the recent months.

For those of you interested in what the Irish Twitter community is Tweeting about you can follow the Irish Twitterati here.

Twitter has become a place to research, build friendships and even promote your business. But I don’t recommend jumping in to the Twitterverse without doing a little research first.

Yes you can microblog and each microblog post is only 140 characters maximum. But remember that each Tweet that you make is indexed in Google and will come up in Google searches and Google Alerts- so be careful what you Tweet.

As part of your research, why not take a look at this article from InsideCRM called the ‘Twitter Hall of Shame‘ which shares 50 notable Tweets covering information from business to political Tweets, and from marriage proposals to wine tasting parties on Twitter.

I’d certainly recommend reading some of the case studies so you avoid being cited in future ‘Twitter Hall of Shame’ - unless your objective IS to be listed there!

Have you stories do you have to share about the difference Twitter and microblogging has made to you? I know I’ve found my Twitter network a great resource of ideas, inpiration adn encouragement.

Attribution: Thanks to Fiona King of InsideCRM for sharing the ’Twitter Hall of Shame’ article with me.

If you are in the technology community in Ireland you might have come across the Open Coffee clubs such as Open Coffee Dublin and Cork Open Coffee.

You will find a Jaiku stream for Irish Open Coffee Clubs where you can keep up to date with what’s happening where.

Well I am afraid to say that I never seem to manage to get along to any of the Open Coffee events - yes I know I am not a techy but I do know that the Open Coffee Community is very welcoming so don’t be afraid if you don’t speak geek!

So I was delighted to pick up through my Twitter feed that James Corbett has started up a virtual Open Coffee using Skypecasts.

You can connect to others every day and James posts details of how to connect on Twitter - just subscribe to @CoffeeCooler on Twitter.

I think this is a terrific opportunity to connect with others and I am sure some interesting business opportunties and collaborations will be born through meeting at the virtual coffee cooler.

You can find out more about the Coffee Cooler at James’ blog.

I think this is a really interesting innovation of social media in Ireland and making a half way home from a totally virtual network such as Twitter and Jaiku to the face to face in person networks of Open Coffee Clubs.

I hope to meet you soon at the Coffee Cooler - oh and mines a tea with milk as I don’t like coffee!
